Like so many other Goodreaders seduced by the buzz, I read and enjoyed every sharp bend of Gone Girl. It proved to be something of an archetype, too, with books like The Girl on the Train and The Woman in the Window cashing in on similar threats and thrills. If you’re looking for even better correlation, though, go backwards in Flynn’s own oeuvre to this one. (Please allow me a quick aside to express an unreasonable but intense dislike for that word—oeuvre. When I try to sound it out in my head, that trailing “re” throws me, like Brett Favre’s name did to the people in Something About Mary. Plus, when I try to Frenchify that opening diphthong, my internal ear hates how affected it sounds. Sorry, I guess I needed to get that off my chest.) 4.2 }, {}]; 6.2 4.6 4.0 Pee Wee Jubilee, The Why Don't You Get a Horse, Sam Adams? 53483 EN

(In all of Flynn’s major works, a crime for which a man has been blamed turns out to be the work of a woman, and Sharp Objects is no exception.) This plot twist is foreshadowed in the penultimate episode, when Chief Vickery—who limited his investigation early on to male suspects—warns two girls to be careful rollerblading because if “some drunk comes flying down this road, he’ll hit ya before he sees ya.” One of them retorts: “Or she. Don’t be sexist, Chief.” But, like any good one, this twist is re-twisted. Amma, with her mother imprisoned, moves in with Camille in St. Louis, and the last few minutes of the show are a montage of their life together—sisterly, surprisingly happy—until, in the very last minutes, Camille discovers both that Amma’s best friend, Mae, is missing and that the ivory floor in Amma’s dollhouse is constructed from human teeth. Just then, Amma walks in and says, “Don’t tell mama,” and the credits roll. 6.5 Cleary, Beverly 4.2 July 15 School Teacher Application 14.0 West, David Preller, James 6960 EN 4.9 4.9 110159 EN 5.2 3.0 Brown, Marc 0.5 67821 EN 0.5 4.0 6.7 1.0 • Security can't get the item in the chest yet, but remember this place.
